About CPED

The Centre for Population and Environmental Development (CPED) is an independent Think Tank organization dedicated to promoting sustainable development and reducing poverty and inequality through policy oriented research and active engagement on development issues. CPED was established by a group of Nigerian academics and was formally registered in Nigeria by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in 1999. CPED is committed to implementing action research that covers various sectors that have impact on poverty reduction and sustainable development in Nigeria, including environment, education, health, human rights, gender, conflict prevention and resolution and good governance. CPED was created as a way of widening national and regional policy and development debate, providing learning and research opportunities and to give visibility to action programs relating to sustainable development and poverty reduction in different parts of Nigeria and beyond.
